I almost did it today, I kind of want to support the game as it is likely the only game I will be playing apart from any Bioware (big fanboy) and Bethesda stuff.

But then I think there isn't actually any of the "fluff" that I want. I obviously want all the issues but then am I sure they are going to continue long enough to make it an investment? Even if they do, a bit at a time is probably better than the £160 whack. I should have done it from the off, I didn't! A price reduction at this stage may well be beneficial for them!

    Anyone thinking on similar lines?

I do think I will invest in another Naga mouse. I have a Logi G600 at the moment and my fingers just don't fall naturally like they did on my old Naga. I would have to get an Elite though as red LED's is a must to fit in the build!

    Decisions...decisions!

Never pay more than 20 bucks for a computer game.
    ...
To be honest, I paid more than 20 bucks in total for TSW between base game, issues 6-8, sidestories and Fall of Tokyo pack, but never exceeded this amount in single payment. I always thought that "lifetime" subscription for MMORPG is the most useless thing you can buy though: you don't know if you will like the game and keep playing it for a long time in the beginning, when it's most useful, and when you played long enough and have enough information to make a decision, you most likely don't need anything that comes with this subscription plan.

I have to say I disagree. At least when it comes to MMOs. I've had a GM pack since about a month after launch. I loved the game but knew there were going to be times when I couldn't afford the sub. At the time the sub was still required. So it seemed like the best option in the long run.

Of course things have changed now but I still feel like I'm getting great value and I buy a crapton of Funcom points too.

As for now I still think it's a good option but with the recent Ultimate edition that may be better. It's really a matter of personal choice I guess.

I should have added I did get the ultimate. For me it is a shame they aren't offering a few more things to lure some much needed revenue. Clothing and such really doesn't interest me, in fact I am wearing the same gear I started the game in.

It was a no brainer early doors really and I probably paid that in subs, more for sure when you add the ultimate costs.

The pay more than 20 bucks for a game is perhaps a little low, but I do often agree with you there. I'd rather play a game late and cheap than launch unless its a "biting at the bit" Bioware game I must have. But then if you intend on playing just one it isn't so steep. But the offerings, other than supporting the game, mean it isn't so appealing!

I should probably give the mouse some more time too, I keep telling myself I just need to get used to it. And people seem to really rate it! I think it stems from playing the game so long with a Naga, I subconsciously move away from the current buttons.

I actually think they could do a lot to improve both the GM and Subscription packs. They keep saying they're looking into it but it's always a case of "soon™"

It all depends. For example in Anarchy online I think I spent more than $1000 keeping up subs over the years. So obviously a once-off payment for that at even $500 would've saved me money in the long run.

For TSW it is slightly different in that it's F2P but the DLC becomes more and more necessary (to both progress and keep interest). I paid about 3 years ago or whenever it came out. So I've never had to shell out another dime. The vet points for things like the Purple condenser thing and even the Venetian exemption tonics are hella handy.

I would suggest whether you buy it or not is a decision based on how long you think you will play for, what else you will need/want to buy (eg issues) and then whether you think you will always be able to afford to do that or not.

I did because I could and it was easy and at the time I think it was pay to play. Now, it's different, but I'd probably still do it again. I prefer the pay once and never again, not the 'in app purchase' model.

I got some vet points with the ultimate edition, I think I had some anyway I had never used. I got the things you mention, oh and the mobile gear repairing thing. I just can't help but think knock the price down £50 or offer more items like this would probably get players still using the game to fork out for it.

I'll decide, I will give this mouse more time. I think the Molten Naga would suit me best but it is discontinued. I liked the classic Naga but the colour scheme is wrong. If I don't fork out £100+ for a new mouse I will deffo go for it. If I do I will have a think.

It is almost guaranteed to be offered half price or something for issue 12 if I buy it now lol

Thanks for all your opinions, it helps me decide 🙂

I got GM pack a few months ago, they offered a few extra goodies and points at the time. To be honest unless they change the offering to include all current issues or enough bonus points to buy them, I would not recomend new people getting if they do not have the petience to wait on bonus points.

For you as returning player, I'd suggest waiting to see what is promised to us after issue 12 and then decide, if they get up the pace of releases for side stories and issues it will be well worth it. And if not then the few realeases a year will likely take too long for a GM pack to be good

Yeah I think I am going to wait on any offers, I may sub again but I am not sure on that either. I did buy 10k+ points last night and bought a few treats. But I don't have much use of the Vet points as I have stacks of Purple breaking things, as far as cooldowns for Scens go I probably can't play long enough during the week for them to matter.

I managed to send all the items to my unused alt though lol, a GM sorted it out really fast!

I purchased one before launch, and I am very glad I did. I have it set up to auto purchase new DLCs, so I never have to worry about it.

I tend to ebb and flow between favorite games, so it has served me well to always be able to come back and be up to date with new content.

The vet points are a nice little perk too, if you like the cosmetics

With today's investor news about FC it might be wise to wait and see even with spare cash. Don't think anything will happen to TSW as game, but if there are significant changes to FC it can mean changes to business model

This is where I am. I'd probably be waiting a month or two first to be sure I'm still enjoying it but then I'd consider going all in. Except for this unknown.
