Charly's parents divorced when she was 3. Staying with her mom in Venice Beach, CA...she grew up as most kids of her generation - a skate rat. She was 14 when her mom died of Leukemia. Moving to Hawaii to be with her father, she was thrown into a new culture of big wave surfing.
At age 15 she went on to win her first HSA competition which qualified her to compete in the Roxy Pro Junior. At 16 she took 3 Junior State titles and Roxy Pro moving on to became the covergirl of Surfing Magazine. 2 years later she smashed the competition at the Energy Australian Open.
A reoccuring competitor in the famous X-games for Skateboarding, Charly 'Doggtown' Gates is no stranger to fierce competion. Now 21, she is one of the youngest girls in the ASP Tour.
All this changed; however, when she arrived in London for a photo shoot for SlamCity, one of the premier Skateboard magazines. It was in an old hotel just off of Piccadily Circus that 'Doggtown' was awaken to her latent powers. 'Chosen by Gaia' as she would later be told.
Just recently recruited by Omne Datum Optimum, CD Gates is once again introduced to a new and magical life.
