So Fight Club on the 28th is happening on what seems to be a very busy day. The Usual Raid training is supplemented by the Halloween event and the Scavenger Hunt...I'm a little worried we will get lost in the shuffle. I'll be there at 3 but I doubt we'll get a crowd before 3:15(eastern GMT-4) due to the Jack attack and other stuff. Don't panic if you show up and not many are there yet.
    Just sayin'
And if you haven't invited your friends and foes in other Cabals, please do so. Always seeking new blood.

  • Oct. 23, 2018, 2:29 p.m.

We were just discussing it on Discord. The Scavenger Hunt is scheduled to end right before FC, but it overlaps with the raid completely. Could we push Fight Club by an hour, so we could fit in an hour of raid practice?

  • Oct. 24, 2018, 4:08 a.m.

The Short answer is yes. The longer answer is, Sure but I'm confused. What time do you want to start? 4pm Eastern (gmt-4) Which is, I think 1pm on the west coast?

  • Oct. 24, 2018, 7:10 p.m.

Errr....I know nothing of the US timezones. But you understood me just fine, the time it's currently scheduled at is what I meant. So it's all good.

Well, It looked to me like that was pretty successful eh? I think we had some non ODO folk show up and it sure looked like everyone had a lot of fun. I did a lot of spamming in General and Templars, a lot of folks were doing Jack and they may have noticed my spam, otherwise.... maybe we found a particularly good time of day? (8pm gmt)

Yep, it's bash-your-friends'-heads-in pvp. Avoid Cayr. . . her stun lock build is annoying AF. Avoid the bunnies-they're just plain dangerous.
And avoid me because I'll shoot anything that moves :-D

Keep an eye on discord in the cabal announcements channel and in the events section here in the forums. Those are the two most common places to see the announcements for fight club. It's basically a free for all brawl in Seoul with lots of friendly smack talk, and the only prize is bragging rights. There is an in-game text chat that is created, as well as a voice chat room on discord for the fight club. It happens once a month on a Sunday afternoon (for USA timezone), and lasts for an hour or until people get tired of blowing each other up.

I enjoy this version of pvp because it's friendly mayhem rather than spawn-camping a-holes griefing players that aren't as skilled at pvp then laughing and calling them noobs (and yeah, that's every other pvp experience I've had 'till now).

A Good Summary. ( I would only add That there's Free Beer!)

You can see our thinking and evolution on this thing by reading this remarkably long thread.

As for the next Fight Club - Details and signup in the above EVENTS section.

FIGHT CLUB is set For Sunday Nov 18th at 4pm eastern (GMT-5)

If I'm not mistaken, this is the most Pre event Signups we've ever had, so this is promising. FIGHT CLUB !

Awesome, thank you for arranging it and being able to attend, I had a really good time and haven't laughed that hard in ages. I had expected it to be a somewhat ... different atmosphere, given how things internet gaming are these days (I haven't done anything PvP for a long time.) so I didnt expect it to be anywhere near as much fun.

Anyhoo considering the clothing that some particular people wore (who I think had most of the beer) maybe it should be called the Tango and Smurf event or something? I don't know which made me laugh harder, getting Smurfed or getting Tango'd :)

Hope I am ok to post this here:

So I got to thinking (yeah it hurt a little) and I wondered what the actual math was regarding the Equal Footing Buff. So I need volunteers to Join me in the Seoul FC where we exchange standard blows and then do the same in the London FC and see what difference the Buff has made - since London doesnt have it. Tell me in game for a Ten minute experiment.

  • Nov. 28, 2018, 3:50 p.m.

First experiments. That buff is spec-freaking-tacular at giving equal footing! I don't think it is POSSIBLE to grief in Seoul fight Club! Suddenly I am not a bit worried about PVP Griefers. (Although being an Ahole remains un buffed) London meanwhile is absolutely a PvP Zone where ip is Destiny- if I have twice your ip, I'll hit you twice as hard. Firmer numbers to come...

I have heard people muttering that equal footing doesn't do anything about signets, so in theory people with low level signets for their elite powers, basic attacks and power attacks will be at a disadvantage compared to people with max red signets in their head, neck, finger spots. My DPS gear is very nearly maxed red signets, but my tank gear signets are way lower powered.

I figure if you let me hit you repeatedly with my dps gear, then do the same rotation but with my tank gear (adjusting so that I have somewhat similar IP in tank and dps gear), we might get some valid numbers. I run ACT dps parser, which might help as well. If you're curious and want to know how much difference it makes, just lmk when you're available. I'm all about the scientific inquiry. . .

beating each other up for SCIENCE.png

Father Duffy and I beat each other up for science to test whether signets are part of the Equal Footing buff, and it doesn't look like they're capped or enhanced by equal footing. As you can see, when I switch out my signets for the tanky signets (which are NOT AR specific and are much lower level than my dps signets) my dps under equal footing drops significantly. Also Duffy and I had nearly identical crit rates, and since my CR was reading 42% on my character sheet, I think that means CR is capped (or set at 35%) by equal footing. When I'm in my less OP signets, my dps is on par with Father Duffy's so the working theory that signets make a difference is supported.

However, the difference doesn't appear to be enough to make it a total game changer or allow for high IP players griefing the low IP players. Even my tank signets were significantly higher level than Father Duffy's, but the dps gap wasn't that big. The biggest difference came, IMO, from having AR specific signets in my dps build which gave me a bigger % based bonus to my AR damage than my weapon agnostic tanky signets did.

B.b.b but he told me he loved me !!! 😢

Out of curiosity is that a particular mod that creates those numbers? I'm interested in keeping track of how I am doing as my IP levels up for pimping myself out in Agartha etc 🤣

It looks like ACT, (Advanced Combat Tracker). It'll read combat log files that you create in game (the command is "/log combat on" or off,), but is itself a different program. You also need to download a SWL combat parsing plug-in. I think it's on the ACT site too. Then just follow the startup wizard and it'll pretty much set itself up.
