    What is Hiverun?

Let's play a game! Here's the map. Each cell is a task, from the easy ones around the perimeter to more hardcore ones closer to the center. Right now you can't exactly see them โ€” only the names. The descriptions will be revealed when we start.

You move from start to finish by completing those tasks and stepping on any adjacent cell next. Completing easy tasks (green in colour) gives you 5 points, each of the midcores (blue ones) cost 10 points, and by doing the hardcore (purple) you earn yourself solid 15 points. To win, you need either to reach the finish first, or win by the points, earning 45 before your opponents do.

The game is not time-locked, but whoever reaches the goal first, wins.
There are two types of tasks: in-game ones and IRL ones. You can avoid the ones you don't like by choosing the path through the beehive.

So, when do we start? Actually all of the tasks are doable solo, but teaming up should be more fun. So when we receive an application from at least two teams (no matter how much participants are in them) we will reveal the tasks and the game begins! You can register a team right here in this thread like "[Team Name]: ".

Accomplished tasks are to be posted in this thread and will be added to the picture every once in a while.

If you guys like this, we're planning on doing this on a regular basis, let's say, every two or three weeks, and if the idea lives we can even compete with other cabals on the bigger scale. But that is yet to be seen!

P.S. We're happy to answer any questions if they occur.

Ah, no. All the cells earn you points.
    I like the idea though!

This looks awesome, really well thought out. Although I might be too busy to partake, I'd definitely enjoy reading everyone's progress. Is this an ODO original, or does this originate from somewhere else?

You could actually cooperate with someone and make your team closer to victory in your spare time! Anyways, this is more of a test run, so if the idea lives, everyone will have the opportunity to participate.

As for the game, no, I didn't invent it myself, this came from imageboards, but originally it was just a set of photos of various things that all participants had to take. There was no competetive element to it and no route also. I've added points and teams to it to make it more of a challenge thing. Hope it will be fun!

And yes, we will begin soon!
    (Not funcom-soon, but like, ready-set-soon!)

    Updated map with the descriptions:

    link to the hi-res: i.imgur.com/yP2MOTY.jpg

It is allowed to take the same/overlapping route as the other team.
It is allowed to ask friends for help.
It is encouraged to use all the exploits you may find.
It is totally normal to participate out-of competition or just complete random tasks for fun.
All RL photos must be taken by the team or for the team, not from web.

All completed tasks are to be posted here, either one by one or in a bunch, in a form that suits you best (links, pictures, archives).

    UNCOMMON (green) tasks block:

    The Secret Messages

Secret world is around us. Watching you from that dark alleyway. Waiting to be ordered from the cafe menu. Sleeping on the shelf of the local store. Grab it!

The task is to take a picture of anything connected to the TSW in your city.

I Spy With My Little Eye

Log into game and take screenshots of the 10 different things starting with an assigned letter.

TOP LEFT ROUTE: Letter "D" as in "Dignity"
BOTTOM RIGHT ROUTE: Letter "H" as in "Honour"

    The Cosplay Kings

All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. The secret world is no different. Recreate a scene from the well-known movie in-game and post it here. Not necessarily by the letter, but you have to get the vibes!

You may take one of these:

    A Hunting We Will Go

Take pictures of at least 10 different cats in-game.

    The Crowd Goes Wild

Log into game, grab 10 or more people and make them do something funny. March through London dressed the same, arrange their sleeping bodies to form "I <3 ODO", your choice. Take some screenshots (maybe add a story or a chatlog). Post it.

    EPIC (purple) tasks block:

    It's On the TV!

Oh look, they are identical! Do you live in London? Do you have a prototype of any TSW location in your city? Go out and take a picture of it - and then take a similar in-game screenshot to compare them.

    Challenge Accepted!

โ€œWow, Reez, you are a mess. Has anyone told you that magic combined with pistols doesnโ€™t work anymore? No one uses it.โ€

Just to check, are we just freeforming then or are T and I teamed up?

You and Tarr are expected to be teaming up for this one, yes (just without a specified name for the team until you announce it). But it's no pressure, if one of you wants to go alone, just talk about it with the other and let us know. Teaming is just the thing GMs won't force on you ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Oct. 12, 2016, 1:37 p.m.

AWOL and Tarr, may I join your team? I just want to try that NM Scenario with the given build and want someone to get credit for it. ๐Ÿ˜€

Weather makes it dangerous to go outside and take pictures for now. To keep thread active, here is my Elaisse completing scenario challenge:

Just to confirm, do we not have to do the tasks in order moving from the start location?

    Exactly.

    Absolutely you may, TS-13.

Quick question: it's very difficult and painful for me to go outside. However, I have, in the past, seen Gog and Magog chime the bells in Royal Arcade, Melbourne. So either I would ask for a disability exemption for personally going into the city and taking a photo; or I'll rely on AWOL and TS-13.

This might've been a bit unclear in the rules at this point, actually.

The strict rule is that the route you choose to go from start to finish (earn points) must be formed by adjacent cells. So you can't just do all four of the epic tasks and say "Hey, I won". But! Technically, even if you do tasks from the specific route not in order, you are not closer to the finish than you'd be if you've done it in order. 'Cause you will still need to complete each of the tasks of the chosen route to win.

So, basically, what am I talking about - if you can't do one of the earlier tasks right here and now, you can delay it for the time you will be able to do so and move on to the task you'll need to complete in the future (if you don't want to waste time or keep the thread dead). But! You will still need to do the task you skipped before you can win.

So, Team Five Scrolls just need to include the completed "Challenge accepted!" (and btw it was EPIC, we were very excited to see it!) in the final route, and we're all good.

This may change in the future - or not, we'll think about.

You most definitely don't need to go outside if you can't (or even don't want to). You may take the photos yourself, send a field agent, strap a go-pro on your dog or use a drone (just make sure it doesn't shout "You will turn back or we shall be forced to cancel your life" at people around) - and put "sup" somewhere in picture (a piece of paper with "sup ODO", "sup TSW" or "hiverun" will do).

I demand a tracklist! And yes, that was truly epic. I invented this build on the spot: "A little bit of this, a pinch of that... what do we have here, crit power dependent abilities? Okay, let's drop EF in!" But it actually kinda worked! I want to slap it on the shoulder, like, "I'm proud of you, son!"
