Name Reservation is now up!

If you go to your tsw account page (thesecretworld.com and account) then one of the options is now to reserve ONE of your existing character names for Secret World Legends.

This may only be an existing character name, you can't just pick a random name to reserve. Not 100% sure, but I think it's also only characters which existed before today and have been logged in in the past 6 months.

Whilst this isn't something you need to rush to do, (it's not an issue till SWL goes live,) you may as well do it now and aoid missing out because you forgot later on!

It works with new characters as well. So any of the names freed up are fair game as long as you create the character.

I personally think this will annoy people further! If the old players would like to get back in they will almost certainly want their names! No email has gone out with the incredibly short window to reserve them. Only people that monitor forums of cabals will have any idea that they need to log in and bag them! I can probably count on all digits potential returnees with sought after names that may reappear given the chance!

The game was always good enough, could have been tweaked sure. The marketing has, and looks like always will, let them down in the long run!

Maybe, but on the other hand there is a laundry list of "good" names that haven't been touched in 4~ years. Lots of people that only played a little and never returned. It's nice to be able to access some of those names from the people that aren't active. Going into SWL I'll finally have the name I use on most other games and services instead of some random name since most my go-tos were taken by inactive accounts. And there is a FC didn't take names that were signed in at some point in the last 6 months, even a semi-casual on and off player probably met that criteria.

There were quite literally a ton of names that were used up by inactive accounts. And really I'd imagine anyone so out of the loop to miss the whole SWL thing, probably either isn't coming back or is going to have a laundry list of other reasons to be upset.

I look at the "free game" on inactive names as one of the few perks of the whole situation. Besides unless I'm misunderstanding anyone that owns the game is free to login any time leading up to SWL going live and claim a name.

Yeah I guess there is a side to every decision and like you say some names will have gone to people that played for 5 minutes. I'm glad you got the name you wanted!

I think a FC mail to everyone would have been the best way of doing it, for them obviously. I would imagine everyone in this cabal has either reserved theirs or changed to something previously taken!
