As some of you remember, waaaaay back when the new site was still fantasyland and stuff for it was getting planned, we briefly talked about making badges for members' profiles, implementing like a "Cabal Achievements" thing which, would a) potentially be really fun, b) could be a nice way to recognize people for stuff and c) get a little more personal with each other. The way it would work has not been figured out yet, but the point would be to engage with others and poke some fun at each other, so maybe a member-nominating-member system, sort of like KAPs used to work. Anyway, If you have ideas for badges, feedback about this whole idea of a badge system in general, comments on other people's ideas, whatever, just post 'em here! Go ahead and brainstorm. Some key notes to think about:
- Can be related to in-game stuff, but doesn't have to - can be stuff based around something on the forums or on Discord.
- The idea is to recognize people for an achievement in the cabal in an in-jokey way that'd be relatable. That would ideally mean that anyone could "earn" any badge, so no 1-member-specific stuff, (i.e. we're not going to get Tai a "I've lost my pants!" badge).
- Not for stuff that overlaps with in-game achievements - that means no dungeon/raid/lair clears - and no "on-purpose-achievable" stuff, if that makes sense. Of course that's a bit inevitable, but just think about avoiding grindy stuff, such as "10 deaths on the same boss" or something like that.
- Should be something that can reasonably be tracked. That sort of ties into the last point why grindy stuff isn't a good idea - nobody has neither time nor the will to keep an eye on and write down whenever they run with someone specific and how many clears that person has gotten, etc.
- Don't get (too) mean. There's talking shit (but with all the love in the world) and then there's flat-out mean, I hope we all know the difference.
- Thread will be closed on June 15th.
