I need to set up a personal website. I do not have the technical ability or inclination to learn so have been looking at some of the website builders around. Seeing as you lot are a smart bunch, any thoughts on the best?

I use Serif Webplus X 8 Cult. Check it out. HTML 5 very easy to use and adapt, gives templates for many formats as well. Pretty good. They often have special offers where they "discount" from RRP.
Some like is it Wix have an interface where you can dorp and drag windows around. Nice and easy.
If it's nothing fancy I'd probably go with some wordpress solution
I'm having a poke around atm, trying WebPlus X8 doesn't seem too hard tbh if I change an exisiting template.
Ok WebPlus is good enough for me, next thing is web hosting. all seem about £4/month for small site etc. That about right?
I think so Cult, I've not done any web hosting through Serif, but that sound about right.
Ok another question for you all. So I have a basic site ready to upload I find a place to host it. I assume all that bloat stuff like making you more visible on search engine is shite?
You have to pay to get access to google and bing to be included in the search engines.
Something I have learnt; I am shite at website design. I am webshite.
You can pay, that helps increase traffic. But clever use of tagging and regular traffic also helps get you higher on the google listings. Also Google is giving priority to sites that are mobile friendly now so if two sites do the same thing the one which has a mobile version will appear first.
