Every year the TSW anniversary is huge. It is like an online Festivus for a week.
I think it would be great for ODO to participate in the anniversary event by hosting or co-hosting something in the community during that weekend. It could be a party, game, or even just donating prizes.
It would be good to get this going as quickly as possible because you don't want to double book over another event.
I can do the details but what do you all think?
Hi Psy, sure, sounds like a good idea 🙂 We could to the usual lottery for signets and a Grand prize of something like Laceration or Breaching purple. I'll get to my farmer boy routine again 😝
What do you have in mind Psy? As this can range from simple prize donation to a lottery or competition, to full blown ODO hosting an event with parades, parties, streams, poking of FC to participate, competitions (AKA Hollo piñata), coordination with other cabal. So basically what scale are we talking about?
I think ODO hosting an event. Lots of ways to it. Sanctuary and TSWDB has costume contest. There are trivia games. With RFG I can do the music. Nothing too crazy, just enough to be seen. We could also try to partner up with a group like Sanctuary or TSWDB
Ok, without me knowing what Sanctuary and TSWDB are up to, I'm thinking partnering up with them and throw a party, where costumes can be shown of (assuming it's in game costumes), have a live stream there as well with commentary regarding what's happening (I'm sure we can find hosts), poke Tomium is probably a good idea when it's fleshed out more, and obviously some good music from radio free gaia?
It's a bit of coordination, but should not be over the top if we can partner up
I can have words with TheChosenOne and Auroris from Sanctuary as well as Vikestart and Critty from TSWDB (I have found myself in a skype chat with them although for the life of me I cannot remember how 🤣 ) and see how they like the idea.
A party sounds like a good, parties are something that Sanctuary & TSWDB are known for and I'm fairly certain they'd welcome guest hosts/judges for costume contests or other goings on (although don't quote me on that).
It shouldn't be too hard many of us know many others in those Organisations and we have great DJ's (plural now) so seems quite natural perhaps? Prizes well im sure we can muster some signets if anyone can think of anything. I was always keen to run a "fools night" or "Parade of Idiots" so dressing silly, acting silly, pranks (not trolling or anything mean/ nasty), motor bike ride tour of Kingsmouth. Hide and Seek event found by using cryptic clues.

Yeah, we should be able to show up, once we figure out the plan/party/theme for it.
I've already got several Parade of Idiots outfits created (Japanese Schoolgirl in New York, Victorias Secret outfit, a few others). I can also drop Sanctuary and TSWDB a line, not like I don't know all of 'em 😀 We're all on Tee Vee together, maw!
If we're to have a parade of fools, how about a counter "Parade of Cools". People in biker jackets and black stetsons and black outfits and other cool get up?
Auroris from Sanctuary (he is one of the leaders) got a hold of me on Skype and they are totally cool with pairing up with ODO. I think this is a good move as it plants ODO within a well established organization (which makes this event consisting of 3 of the largest organizations (Sanctuary,TSWDB and ODO).
They are fleshing out there plans right now and he will get back to me. We can start to flesh out our plans and then we can integrate whatever.
I love the Twitch idea as a color commentary about events. There will be low key ones and extravagant ones. I wish PVP was more amenable to Twitch as commentary would be like a boxing match.
Costume contests are always fun. I love them.

Actually, Psy, given your other hat, 4-- RFG as well 🙂 Ideal for me would be the 5th, I have the fourth off, and bad day to do an event, the fifth I also have off, and should be at the start of Anniversary (should go live on the 3rd, if previous anniversarys are any clue) But I can get whatever day we all agree to the event off 🙂

Ah, first anniversary was July 3rd, 2013. Second was July 3rd, 2014. Hence, given track record, I think the Anniversary event for 2015 will hit July... 3. July 4th is a major US Holiday so a bad day to do an event in game given people are drinking beer, doing cookouts, and just yeah. Major Holiday. Should last from the 3 to the 10th, if the last two years are anything to go by.
Waiting on Sanctuary but I think running something prior to the weekend is a good bet. Depends on the time of day but people should still come and most organization are going to shoot for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am sure RFG has plans for that.
Ok so 3rd is conveniently Friday, or inconveniently if you have busy weekend. US peeps are likely busy preparing for 4th, then party like hell and nursing hangover on 5th?
If the consensus between sanctuary and TSWDB is to gun for Friday, is it under assumption that ppl who play TSW have no lives? I don't know but even disregarding 4th of July for US folks, Friday and Saturday rarely seem like good days for people. We also have the time zone problems, there is no ideal time for all around the globe so it seems that between all that is happening we need to space things out a bit, so that people can take part in at least some of it.
Some flash mob type of things on Friday to get things going, smaller event(s) of sorts on Saturday and anything major like parades on Sunday would seem appropriate. Thoughts?
I should point out that the organisers of Sanctuary and TSWDB are all based in the EU. It's not a case of not taking US members into account but scheduling an event at a time when they are unable to attend would be a little awkward.
That said timezones are always difficult. Finding a time that suits all members is never easy. Your suggestion of a number of smaller gatherings spread over the course of the weekend may help people who aren't able to attend a bigger bash. Although getting on board with Sanctuary/TSWDB's party would be a good thing.
My point was more that Friday and Saturday tend to be bad days for all, 4th of July for US, just makes it worse for US. I just think that going for Sunday for big party would yield best attendance. I got no clue about what Sanctuary/TSWDB or RFG have in plans, since both Psy and Pyre on the case, I'll limit my involvement to suggestions and finding out a good way to stream it.
Another I think we might want to include is Vikestart's new cabal, Keepers of Solomon. He's one of the leads of TSWDB, founded his own cabal recently-- he's, honestly, good people, gets them some attention and I know he has his own resources as a known member of the community. Just idea, yeah, another Templar cabal helping in the event, but it's never, in my book, a zero sum. It's about people finding communities they like and fit them, and they join, and keep playing because of friends.
