Rather than have a discussion about addons in a random thread, here's one purpose designed for it!

So, first of all, a disclaimer. You can play TSW with zero addons and won't have any problems. There are no addons which are mandatory, but there are quite a few which are very useful and make life easier. Personal preferences will always apply, and it's rare to have two UIs exactly the same.

I'm including a screenshot of AWOL's ui purely so people can see what the addons look like, this is not a statement of this is the best UI, merely how I like it.

    i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/awolish/awoluiboxed_zps8toylfnf.jpg

OK, so in the picture, right at the top is Viper's Topbar Information Overload. You can see that there are lots more icons than on the standard UI - these are mostly icons for different addons. I can click the icon and open the addon interface - it's very very useful! It also lets you see how many friends and cabal members are on, quick currency access on the left and displays latency & fps on the right.

Moving down, in the red box you'll see a little green bar with a padlock and AWOL in it. This is Valyrie's Lock Defensive Target. This means I am always my defensive target, so for manifestations I know I'll not be accidentally targeting someone else and not buffing myself. I turn this off when healing, because sometimes you have to take pity on the poor idiot DPS and throw heals not just on the tank.

In the orange box, you'll see Valyrie's Infarmer. This is a customised list you can set up to track achievements. Useful when you're working towards 10k kills.

On the left in the green boxes, there is FiveAlive 2. This handles the group window and defensive target. It shows aegis shields, lifeburn/bleed/raid debuffs nice and clearly. It is by a long way the best group addon out there.

In the middle, there are a couple of empty boxes. White and blue are where my Viper's Castbar Relocatorcan be found - white is the player cast bar, blue is target's cast bar. That means that when something nasty is being cast, it's right in the middle of my screen!

Also in the middle are my weapon resources - using Viper's Resource HUD.

In the purple boxes, I have Effects UI set up. Top middle is my Elemental Force counter, just below is my momentum counter (in orange). Lower down, I have personal buffs and debuffs on the left; in the middle I have debuffs on the boss, including shield timers for things like Machine Tyrant; and on the right I have an area for proc buffs, so stuff like stims and kickbacks.

Below that, I have ElTorqiro's AegisHUD. It has an automation option which can be turned on or off, and is generally a handy thing in Kaidan.

Bottom left is ChatFormat, so I can have pretty coloured writing ^^

There are a couple of unseen addons too.
For the bank and auction house, Advanced TradePost is great. This helps you to make sure you haven't got split stacks of items and provides an auction house ui that's far superior to the base model.

Valyrie's Friends Enhanced adds a load of functionality to the friends panel and is useful if you can't keep track of where you know random people from!

For outfits, Valyrie's Fashionista is great, Elgå is also useful for being able to create colour coordinated outfits.

If you like your pets and want an easier way to keep them with you, Valyrie's Pet Handler is er, handy...

Finally, for crafting, the best (and pretty much only, because why reinvent the wheel?) addon is Ultimate Crafter.

    i76.photobucket.com/albums/j15/awolish/ulticraft_zpsvjoowkke.png
This will let you quickly and easily craft consumables, weapons, lair patterns etc as well as giving auto disassemble and auto upgrade options.

To keep track of damage, the best thing to do is to use Advanced Combat Tracker (ACT). I'll talk about that in a separate post though 🤓

I submit Boo's Decks, this will allow you to have a Side bar of powers to select quickly, this will also allow you to slot active passive, and augments.

Viper's Friends list sync, makes keeping all your friends synced so easy.

    There is also the BooWarnings
For me, this is 1 of the must have (well, as AWOL said, no mods are mandatory) mods, it will worn you for shield in MT, POD in NYR, and many more...

    Boowarnings is horrible IMO :p

I don't see the point in bloating your UI with addons. Effects UI already allows you to do all of this, better and all in the same place. You should also always be aware of everything the boss is casting, for that I recommend viper's castbar relocator.

  • June 26, 2015, 2:23 p.m.

I agree with Kemo. BooWarnings is up for the title of mods which irritates me most.
If you're in NM dungeons, then Effects UI can be set up to monitor conditions like shields on bosses.
For NY, only the pod catcher needs to know about an incoming pod - so they should have some way of tracking the cast bar. FiveAlive 2 tracks the whisper of darkness stacks, and the shadow out of time wave has a casting animation already and a sound effect to let you know when it's happening.

It's a nice idea, but it's horribly bloated - in fact it's the only addon I've ever had that caused lag. I deleted it about an hour after installing. Now, there are just other options out there which do pretty much the same thing, but better and with actual customisation options.

The information in this thread is super useful! Thanks for putting it together.

I have had trouble installing some of these add-ons last time I looked at enhancements for TSW (esp Viper's Deck Manager, which I REALLY wanted!), but it seems like y'all are using them with the latest version of TSW no problem. I will try again.

Is EffectsUI a replacement for Eth's Buff Bars? It's been a while, but I think people used to use Eth's.

Yeah it is and most people tend to prefer it, it certainly has more options. I read on the forums that there were a few issues now with Eths. I did bump into him in Agartha though so maybe he is updating them all again.

I have EffectsUI now but I haven't managed to set it up perfectly for me yet. I do find its main menu a little confusing!

For the Topbar overload I get the same problem as a few in the comments on curse. It just gets rid of my menu tab in the top left and replaces it with a black bar, with a red one underneath that.

The other thing I would mention is if you are interested in running nm Penthouse then get Uta Madre (will find the link when not posting from a phone).
I've got a half made effects ui tutorial somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out.

If it will help others too then the guide will be useful, I haven't really spent more than 10 mins looking at it yet. With limited play time I have just cracked on with all the issues I got from that Ultimate pack. I finished off Issue 11 last night though and it was tough with my poor Aegis gear towards the end. But I am noting that as a good thing as I enjoyed the challenge.

I did spend 5 mins trying to add a EF counter and failed miserably lol.

I have downloaded most of your list of mods and will install them all tonight, I treated myself to quite a large main screen this time so I do need to relocate a lot of stuff as my eye is "off the ball" looking at counters and such.

  • Aug. 3, 2015, 10:36 p.m.

I should be back online tomorrow evening, one of the things I already have is an EF counter, so it should be easy 🙂

pretty sure effectsUI has an EF counter. I am sure because that what i have and it counts my EF. AFAIK you just need to either choose it as a 'buff' you see, or dont have it on the exclusion list. Depending on how you've set the Mod up. All you need to do it chose the presentation and then then re-position.

Oh it definitely has the ability Elrojo. I think my main mistake was deleting everything currently up, I figured when I did a fresh install (due to a fresh Win10 install) it would be back to the way it was. It remembered my settings though.

I haven't had a proper look at it really though. At the moment I am only getting an hour in a day, I prefer to spend it questing lol

Whilst scripts are not exactly addons, they are nevertheless incredibly useful to know about!
There is a scripts file which contains all the ODO relevant scripts, and can be found here.

  • Aug. 5, 2015, 5:48 p.m.

If it would be useful, we could post a couple of people's effects ui export code.
That can then be used as is, or dragged all over the place resized etc as desired.

Giving examples of what can be done is great for people who are happy to spend all evening tinkering (like me), but there are always going to be people for whom the basic out of the box stuff works as well as is needed. By giving multiple examples, that means if you don't like my personal layout, you can try someone elses 😀

Any volunteers please post a screenshot and effects ui export code in this thread.

Gear Doctor - When you load a build with Gear Manager (or Deck Picker) it checks for talismans or weapons that weren't found and will slot any that are upgraded equivalents e.g. if you upgraded the gylph on your head piece it'll find it, if you went from a blue breaching to a purple it'll find it. In cases where it noticed it had to slot upgraded pieces it'll ask if you want to update the build. If it can't find a piece at all (e.g. it's in your bank or you changed a glyph from hit to pen) then it will warn you rather than fail silently.

    Slight snags:
    - you need to Reloadui when you switch toon otherwise it'll get stuck trying to load your build over and over.
    - the popup for when it askes to update a build saves everything (abilities, augments, weapons, etc). So if you're like me and have builds for talismans separate to ability builds then you just need to say No and update manually.

Uta Madre - As mentioned by AWOL previously but here's a link to it.

PEF - Mod for PH 2nd boss. If you select the egg that you're not meant to kill it will mark it with one of your faction markers.

Deck Picker - Adds a persistent drop down menu to your screen of all your builds in Gear Manager. Allows sub menus based on a naming convention using pipes.

    i.imgur.com/q9b4VaI.jpg

Inspecto Patronum from ElTorqiro_UITweaks - Improves the inspect character tool so that you can see a person's current gear stats and inspect their AEGIS controllers. The mod optionally does some other nifty things like allowing you to lock your Character Sheet window to a particular scale and display the Target of your Target.

    i.imgur.com/kYDpNJK.jpg

Survivor Tracker - When in a scenario it adds a health bar to your HUD for the suvivor in your 20m vicinity with the lowest health. Also adds a medel indicator based on the number of current survivors.

Valyrie's Tradewindow Enhanced - Adds thousands separators to the sums of PAX you are trading in the trade window. Makes it easier to see you have the right number of zeroes when buying and selling big ticket items in a trade.

Popup Notification - Continued - Bit of a vanity mod. Records your fastest completion time of each dungeon and how long your last run took. Can be set to display onscreen notifications whenever you gain or spend certain currencies, nice for those occasions when you think a bag gave you nothing (the pax notication can get a bit annoying when you repair gear). Can be set to display a warning when your nearing MoP and bullion caps.

    i.imgur.com/OXJayJ8.jpg

AutoNBG - Auto rolls on loot. Highly configurable and still being updated when new loot is added to the game. A must if you love doing scenarios or airport farming in a group.

AutoSelect: AEGIS - AEGIS auto switcher, an alternative mod to ElTorqiro_AegisHUD. Newer versions recently added DPS and Healer modes which changes the rules on how your AEGIS controllers are switched (Offensive vs Defensive target)

Newer versions of EffectsUI can be configured to show them. Check out my post in the examples thread.
